The Contempt of Court Benchbook—Fourth Edition contains chapters on the nature of the contempt power, distinguishing civil and criminal contempt, procedural requirements, sanctions, and common forms of contempt. The Fourth Edition also contains a contempt flowchart and checklists for conducting summary, civil, and criminal contempt proceedings.
This electronic version of the benchbook includes hyperlinks to statutory law, court rules, and other MJI publications cited in the benchbook's text, as well as direct links to the cross-references noted within the benchbook itself. Links to published Michigan case law will be added when MJI finalizes access to approved versions of the electronic opinions.
