Connections to Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs)

Structure of the Tour

Grade Three tours of the Learning Center consist of four main parts:

  • Introduction and video
  • Roles in the courtroom
  • Discussion of the right of assembly
  • Group discussion of selected topics

Roles in the Courtroom

Students will discuss courtroom roles. Some roles require more reading than others. Please be prepared to help select students for roles.

Group Discussion

Students will use a form of “reciprocal teaching” to help each other better understand what they are reading. Students will predict, read, question, clarify, and then summarize their reading. For the best experience, it is recommended that you practice this method in the classroom with students before the tour.
