MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT - Michigan Adoption Day

Clinton County Adoption Day

The pitter-patter of little feet and the clicking of camera lenses echoed in the halls of the Clinton County Courthouse just before Thanksgiving this year. November 23rd was Michigan Adoption Day. Family Court Judge Lisa Sullivan finalized the adoptions of 7 of the 339 children adopted to families in Michigan that day.

In a ceremony prior to the court hearings, The Michigan Supreme Court's Adoption Day Resolution was read, as well as a poem about families by Maya Angelou. With tears in their eyes, adoption caseworkers and family members shared their excitement and joy on this special occasion. A reception for families, friends and past adoptees was held in the Board of Commissioners' Room following court.

"Giving Thanks for Families" was the theme of Adoption Day this year and giving thanks is what we did.
