​Preventing Child Sexual Abuse Training

In August 2016, the State Court Administrative Office Child Welfare Services Division recorded a live training on preventing child sexual abuse.  The recordings and correlating training materials are listed below for you to view at your convenience.

Background and Purpose

This training provided participants with the legal and behavioral definitions of child sexual abuse, discuss the prevalence of child sexual abuse, and review data regarding perpetrators and victims in Michigan and the United States. Participants gained an understanding of how the motivation of offenders provides critical insight to a broader understanding of the issues to be addressed when completing assessments, implementing interventions, and safety planning. In addition, training participants learned how to identify child sexual abuse victimization and how to help children and families heal. Intergenerational trauma and information regarding quality medical evaluations was also provided.

Target Audience

All child welfare professionals including jurists, court staff, prosecutors, attorneys, lawyer guardians ad litem, child protective services and foster care workers, tribes, private agencies, law enforcement, mental health providers, and education professionals..
