Statewide E-filing Initiative

Helping trial courts implement technological advances to increase efficiency and improve service to the public is one of the State Court Administrative Office’s strategic objectives.


In 2015, the SCAO worked with the Legislature, courts, and other stakeholders in developing and passing legislation to authorize, design, and implement statewide ​e-filing for the future of Michigan’s courts. Such a system will enable litigants to electronically file documents from anywhere at any time without waiting in line or traveling to a courthouse.


This legislation (Public Acts 230-235 of 2015) was signed into law by Gov. Rick Snyder on December 23, 2015, and took effect on January 1, 2016. See the information and materials below for additional background and visit regularly for updates and plans as we move forward.
