Law Day 2019 - Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society

Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press - guaranteed in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution - are among the most important foundations for a free society. Law Day 2019 focuses on these cornerstones of representative government and calls on us to understand and protect these rights to ensure, as the Constitution proposes, “the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.”

MootCtES.jpgDuring this week-long day program, high school students argue a moot court case as if before the Supreme Court.

The case involves a traffic stop. Police officers searched the vehicle with the driver's permission and discovered methamphetamine in a passenger's backpack. Did the driver's consent justify the search? Or did the search violate the Fourth Amendment?

Application - Deadline May 24.
